Positano, is a pictoresque village on the the Amalfi cost, in South Italy, which was thought to have medieval origins but an extraordinary discovery is changing this impression.

Positano was probably founded during the I century after Christ as the personal villa of a very wealthy Roman, perhaps a Senator or a successful general. We do not know yet his name but at the centre of the town, 8 meters under the village Church (see the picture: below, on the right side) excavations are exposing never seen before mural paintings in perfect conditions, similar to those found in Nero’s  Domus Aurea in Rome.
